All the New Zealand Rugby Academy coaches are specialists in 7s rugby. All have years of experience at an international level, all have had unequalled success both as players and as coaches. All are recognised and respected throughout the world as experts in their field.

Gordon Tietjens, the most successful coach in the history of International Rugby 7s, Eric Rush, the world’s most successful 7s captain and coach of Auckland to four New Zealand 7s titles and Scott Pierce, regarded as one of New Zealand’s best ever 7s exponents, with an outstanding record of coaching in Asia form the nucleus of the coaching team. Other team members include Hannah Porter, former captain of the Silver Ferns at the inaugural Women’s Ruby 7s World Cup, Craig de Goldi, winner of two Rugby 7s World Cup medals and Frano Botica, former All Black and Kiwi international and outstanding goal kicker.

By bringing together the very best 7s rugby coaching talent available anywhere in the world the New Zealand Rugby Academy ensures that every team attending a coaching camp will be honed to the absolute best of their abilities.

We recognise that all rugby 7s teams are not equal, that every national, provincial or club team is not the All Blacks but every New Zealand Rugby Academy coach has played a major role in putting the New Zealand Ruby 7s team at the top of the world.

That is the team that is available to you.

And they will be supported by internationally experienced conditioning, medical and nutritional personnel.
We will assess your team’s current abilities, the competitions you play in, the vision you have for the short to medium term and the funds you plan to commit to achieve your goals; only then will we design a program that gives you the greatest chance of achieving your targets.

Everything will be focused on Rugby 7's.

We offer a range of training and accommodation venues. Our key base is the Millennium Institute of Sport and Health ( New Zealand’s Olympic High Performance Centre), we also use the all weather synthetic rugby fields at College Rifles Rugby Club, plus have the use of local rugby grounds throughout the greater Auckland area.

Being located within the Auckland Blues Super 14 franchise we are able to provide a wide variety of teams to play during a camp thus enabling us to assess the progress being achieved during various stages of your programme.

We will send you away with a programme to continue your development. We will be available to continue giving support by way of video analysis and and regular contact to follow your progress.

So what makes us different?

We only employ experienced coaches who have achieved success at an international level.

We are passionate about the game of Rugby 7's – we are committed to growing the game of Rugby 7 and helping nations reach their full potential to compete on the world stage.

Gain the edge - be your best.
